  • This course prepares one to achieve a private pilot licence as issued by the CAA.
  • The course duration is approximately 4-6 months

PPL (A) GROUND SCHOOL CURRICULUM

The aim of theoretical knowledge curriculum (also referred as "Ground School") is to train pilots to the level of theoretical knowledge required for the PPL (A) according to the Kenya Civil Aviation (PEL) regulation 42. PPL (A) theoretical knowledge course will comprise of fourteen (14) theoretical syllabi, 260 hours of instruction, which includes formal classroom work, approved interactive video training, slide/tape presentation, and computer-based training.  All teaching for the purpose of this course is conducted in English. PPL (A) FLYING CURRICULUM

The flying training of PPL (A) course shall comprise a total of at least 40 hours.

Before flying the student is briefed by the flight instructor in the briefing room and a form is filled attached in APPENDIX S of the course manual.

After every flight the student is debriefed by the flight instructor a form is filled attached in APPENDIX T of the course manual.

The air exercises of the course are divided into 2 phases as analyzed in the table below: (Details of the air exercises are as per APPENDIX U of the course manual.)

  • Minimum admission age 17 years
  • You must have finished secondary school (form 4/6) and passed.
  • You must have passed English, Mathematics and Geography.
  • You have to be medically and physically fit.
  • A letter of good conduct from your country's police.
  • Copy of National Identity card/Passport/Birth Certificate
  • present your academic result slips or certificates
  • And any other that may apply

Intakes occur thrice a year:

  • January Intake
  • May Intake
  • September Intake

This course will enable the student apply for and enjoy the privileges of a private pilot licence as stated by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
